Ireland’s Geography

The total square kilometer’s of Ireland is 70,280. What does that really mean? Ireland is comparable in size to the state of West Virginia in the United States. There are large cliffs along the west coast of the island, often pictured in the photographs in travel books or magazines. Some of the middle of the island has vast plains but are soon bordered by hills and low mountains. The temperature in Ireland does not vary as much as a country with four distinct changing seasons. The winters are not frigid but the summers are not always sunny and warm, mostly moderate weather with consistent humidity. Based on meteorologist reports, Ireland is estimated to be overcast half of the time.
