Kansas City Irish Fest – August 24st to September 2nd, 2012

Celtic CrossIf you’ll be in the Kansas City area in late August or early September, why not enjoy a little Gaelic-inspired fun at the annual Kansas City Irish Fest?

This popular event draws some of Ireland’s most beloved musical groups, dancers, and storytellers, and it takes place at Crown Center in central Kansas City.

This year’s get-together runs from August 24th to September 2nd, 2012, and it promises to be an action-packed good time that is totally family-friendly.

Thirty musical acts will grace the festival’s stages, including Gaelic Storm, McPeake, and the Elders.

If you love traditional Celtic music that also incorporates a touch of rock-n-roll, you’ll love the rousing live performances at this year’s festival. From folk music and fiddlers to more modern, Irish-inspired tunes, there will truly be something for everyone to enjoy.

For the kiddies, a special Kid’s Stage will be occupied by talented children’s performers, who will give puppet shows, oversee a lighthearted children’s costume contest, and bring the stories of Ireland’s High Kings to life on stage.

This fun-filled Irish festival also has a heritage component, which includes workshops that will assist you in learning how to trace your Irish roots, storytelling about Ireland’s immigrants, and an Irish dancing tutorial.

If you’ve ever wanted to learn more about your own Irish family background, this festival will be a wonderful resource.
