If you’re looking for a fun and family-friendly Celtic festival that honors your own Scottish heritage, why not visit Spokane, Washington this August?
The Spokane Highland Games will run on August 4th, 2012, on the South Lawn of the Spokane County Fair & Expo Center. At the festival, you’ll witness feats of bravery, speed and strength that recall thousands of years of Scottish history.
Examples of activities that you’ll be able to enjoy during the Spokane Highland Games include traditional pipe band performances, sheepdog demonstrations, old-world blacksmith demos, Highland dancing, and all of the sporting events and Highland competitions of Scotland.
To add even more appeal to this popular Washington State event, organizers will create a series of “Clan tents” that feature the colorful tartans of each Scottish family clan, along with exciting information about clan histories and Scottish culture.
If you’re unsure about whether or not you’re a member of one of the Scottish clans (such as Clan Munro), dropping by the Clan tents will be a great way to find out if you have the right to wear a specific Clan tartan. Experts will be there to help you trace your own Scottish ancestry!
Vendors will also be on site, offering Scottish wares that are crafted by hand. Traditional Scottish food and drink will be on offer during the event, so haggis and Scotch whiskey may well be on the menu.
In addition, a British Car Exhibit will be featured at the festival, so you’ll be able to enjoy checking out vintage Austin-Healeys, Jaguars and Austin Minis while you take in all of the Highland action.
This festival promises to be a winner. To find out more, please visit the official Spokane Highland Games website today.
