|Every woman wants to feel like a princess on her wedding day. And while many might dream about it and never make this dream a reality it does not mean it cannot be done – there are many castles across Ireland that can serve as a perfect backdrop for a wedding.
And lets face it, if the prince is already snagged, then all you need is a castle for that fairytale wedding.
Solis Lough Eske Castle
Solis Lough Eske Castle is located in County Donegal. If want your wedding party to knock everyone’s socks off then this is the place to go.
Close to the Blue Stack Mountains and the Lough Eske what is fantastic about Solis Lough Eske Castle is that offers something for everyone – from the choice of your accommodation (modern or more traditional) to the spa to indulge your senses or hiking – whichever might take your fancy.
And there is a wedding planner available – if that will not ease the stress of wedding preparation, I do not know what will.
Dromoland castle is located in the beautiful County Clare and dates back to 16th century. For any bride to be, it might come in handy to know that it has turrets (can you get any more fairy tale like?) and a lake, while the grooms might like to know there is a golf course available as well.
The likes of Clinton, Bush and Mandela all stayed in the presidential suite at Dromoland.
Just half an hour away from Dublin, Slane is picture perfect back drop for any bride and groom. And if you do dream about a fairy tale wedding, it doesn’t mean you’re not also a rock chick at heart. And what can be a better location then a spot where some of the most famous world rock stars performed for tens of thousands of people?
Castle Durrow is located in County Laois, in the village of Durrow. An hour and a half away from Dublin, you and your beloved (and a number of assorted guests) will be overlooking the beautiful Erkina river in the heart of Ireland.
Not to mention the bride-to-be can be spoiled rotten and pampered all day long before the big day in the castle’s beauty salon.
Located on a small island Waterford Castle will offer you something most celebrities crave – privacy. This 5 star hotel is a short distance away from Waterford city. The ferry will whisk you away to the life of luxury and opulence.
Since the castle has only 19 rooms, only 39 guests can be accommodate at any given time so it might be more suited for smaller wedding parties.
While it might be considered the height of extravagance to even consider getting married in a castle, I was surprised to found out that many of these places have special promotions available for wedding parties. And if you do decide to get married in off-season it might not even be as expensive as you might think.
Who says you cannot make your dream a reality?
