Irish Honeymoon

The Irish translation for a honeymoon is mi na meala, meaning the month of honey. Irish custom called for the newly weds to spend a month in seclusion together drinking honeyed wine.

Today, couples can have a relaxing and delightful honeymoon in Ireland in a charming thatched cottage or a legendary castle, with or without the honeyed wine. Honey wine now is most often served at the ceremony. Most modern day brides and grooms have looked abroad to enjoy their time together and the average length of a honeymoon is no longer a month.
