Diamond Claddagh Ring

Hi, my name is Erin Stafilatos. My first name “Erin” means Ireland. “Stafilatos” is Greek and people look at me funny when I tell them my last name because I look so Irish. I was born with a shock of red hair, blue eyes, and later developed a ton of freckles! All of the Irish and Celtic pieces in this album are exquisite. The one that I most resonate with is the Claddagh ring. I first learned of the Claddagh symbol when I was very little. My grandmother gave me a Claddagh ring and explained the meaning behind it. I really liked how it meant love, loyalty, and friendship. To me it represents what the Irish value in life! I wore that ring everyday until it actually broke! My family keeps a Claddagh sign in our family room! Now, I have a four month old daughter who is half Irish. I cannot wait to give her a Claddagh ring and explain the meaning behind it to her. I love the Tara’s Diary bracelet. I purchased one as soon as it was available from Celtic Jewels. I have had great fun collecting different charms; each one symobolizes something in my life. This particular charm with the dangling Claddagh brings me back to memories of my Mother who adored all things Irish. Her parents originally came from Ireland and she grew up listening to the stories and folklore they told her.

My Mom passed these stories down to us,her children. We loved the story of the Claddagh, the symbolism behind it. I can’t help but smile when I look at my Tara bracelet and catch sight of the Claddagh charm, it bring great memories of my Mom sitting at the kitchen table telling us stories of Ireland. Though she is no longer here with us, her words live on in our hearts and minds. It’s a wonderful thing to have something like this charm to set off memories from long ago. And the Claddagh symbolizes every thing you wish for the people in your life.

I discovered Tara’s Diary for the first time in a small gift shop while on vacation in Maryland this year. I am so happy and excited to discover your site and find these lovely Irish beads and charms are offered, as I have not seen them in here in Massachusetts and was unsure where to find them for purchase.We have visited Ireland three times, and each time I have left a little piece of my heart behind. It is such a breathtakingly beautiful place! The beautiful shades of green and blue in the glass beads remind me of the “40 shades of green” and the colors of the sky and ocean as one travels over the Ring of Kerry or along the Dingle peninsula.

Each of the symbols have a special meaning too, and I hope to be able to collect them all, as each one would bring back a special memory of our time in Ireland. The Claddagh in particular reminds me of our trip through Galway, past the village where this symbol is said to originate. It also brings back a very special memory of a little thatched-roofed shop in Adare where we stopped on our first journey to this wonderful country, and my husband gifted me with a beautiful gold Claddagh ring. The Claddagh will always be a symbol of his love, and that he cared enough to make my dream of visiting Ireland come true!

Well, it’s half way through the month, and we’ve got some great entries in the Facebook competition, but unfortunately there’s been no voting. After reviewing the competition format, I now realise that it’s way over complicated to try to get people voting. I only wish Facebook had some easier ways to  implement competition ideas. I’m sure they will eventually, I hope!

In the meantime, I’m going to continue the competition based on the stories that people post, and I’ll be the judge of the best story/comment myself. I kinda like the idea of being a judge anyway!

I’d love to see more stories/comments from people. If you know other Celtic jewelry lovers, why not share the page with them and they can enter the competition too.

At the beginning of each month, I’ll select 10 products from my store: www.irishcelticjewels.com and create an album for them on Facebook.

To enter the competition, view the album of product photos, pick the one you like, and write your comment/story underneath the product.
