Engraved with ancient Celtic Trinity Knots (symbols of the Holy Trinity), this bracelet is hip and traditional. The symbols on this piece have been around since the sixth century, when the artisans of the British Isles began to use Trinity Knots to honor their spirituality.
Today, this piece gains extra meaning and resonance due to its Celtic influences…but it also has true high-fashion appeal. You can make the most of a hot manicure or sleeveless top with this pretty accessory.

Famous Irishmen – Frank McCourt
Posted on | August 24, 2010
For many people, the experience of reading Frank McCourt’s poignant biography, Angela’s Ashes, is an unforgettable one. This Irish author’s unique voice earned him a (well-deserved) Pulitzer Prize for biography in 1997.
Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1930, McCourt was the son of immigrants from Ireland. In Angela’s Ashes, his family suffers through terrible poverty while living in the States – largely due to the impact of the Great Depression…as well as patriarch Malachy’s alcoholism. Malachy’s single-minded and selfish love of “the pint” did great damage to his wife, Angela, and to Frank and his siblings.
In time, the family moved back to Ireland to make a new start, but soon their fortunes declined instead. They lived on charity as McCourt’s father always seemed to drink away any wages he earned. The family experienced the grueling reality (which included social stigma) of being among Limerick’s very poorest residents. …continue reading Famous Irishmen – Frank McCourt

Famous Irishwomen – Mary Robinson
Posted on | August 13, 2010
Mary Robinson was Ireland’s first female president. From 1990 to 1997, she held this esteemed office, and then she went on to become a United Nations High Commissioner. The achievements and ideals of Ms. Robinson have secured her place as one of Ireland’s most famous women…
The daughter of two physicians, Mary Robinson was born in May of 1944, in Ballina (County Mayo). Her ancestors were also politically active – her unique heritage featured a fascinating mixture of relatives from many walks of life- some were loyal Royalists, others were rebels… her ancestors had a wide range of disparate religious and political leanings.
From this potent genetic pool, she rose to become Ireland’s seventh Prime Minister (after an education which culminated in a barrister’s degree). Her excellence as a lawyer led to an appointment as a Reid Professor of Law at the prestigious Trinity College in Dublin, where she studied in her youth. Robinson is also an alumni of Harvard Law School. …continue reading Famous Irishwomen – Mary Robinson

Irish Mythology – Children Of Lir
Posted on | August 6, 2010
An important part of the Irish Mythological Cycle, The Children of Lir story is beloved in Ireland. This tale is part of the grand Irish storytelling tradition, which relies on prose and poetic language to weave together morality, magic, and history…
In this popular myth, Dearg The Red was chosen as the king of the Tuatha De Danna people, which annoyed Lir, his rival. In an effort to soothe the temper of Lir, Dearg The Red offered one of his own daughters in marriage.
Lir was wed to this young woman, whose name was Aoibh. During their union, Aoibh bore Dearg four children: Fionnuala, a girl, and sons Aodh, Fiachra, and Conn.
Sadly, Lir’s bride soon passed away, and the children grieved for her. Dearg offered another one of his daughters to Lir, a woman named Aoife. …continue reading Irish Mythology – Children Of Lir
